It's just so convenient that your dinner is cooking away while you're out and by the time you're back, it's ready :)

Re: Slow Cooker Beef Short Ribs

Nice! :) I'm new to slow-cooking, but I love it for its simplicity and effortlessness. I use my slow-cooker for cooking beans a lot.

Re: Carb Nite® Solution & Paleo: How They Are Different

A very well thought out article. Thank you so much for your support, Jos! I'm glad you're having great success. It's been such a blast working with you. Obviously my body puts on fat from dietary protein and fats more easily than from carbs, because since I've started eating plant-based more and more, and especially since I eat a high-carb vegan diet, I've lost weight while eating more calories.

Interesting what you wrote about fructose! I started eating more fruit again when switching to a plant-based diet and felt hungry and very bloated after eating it, so I think my body doesn't like fructose. I've cut out fruit almost entirely and also reduced legumes, so basically I eat veggies, whole grains, and (sweet) potatoes now. That works very well for me and I like the food very much. Unfortunately I don't like bananas, especially the ripe ones are just eww for me. :P

Re: Carb Nite® Solution & Paleo: How They Overlap

Thank you for this post! I was wondering about what's behind the CN concept. As you know, I've stopped eating Paleo because I couldn't live with my ethical concerns anymore, and I also felt worse and worse with fat and protein as main source of calories - no satiation, low energy levels, nausea, trouble sleeping etc. Now I eat a ton of carbs from whole foods and that works very well for me. Sweet potatoes are some of my favorites, and also brown rice and gluten-free oats. :)

Re: Mini Tuna Patties

I made my own taco seasonings. It's super simple: cumin, paprika or smoked paprika, chipotle pepper powder, aleppo pepper, garlic powder, ground oregano and black pepper powder.

Re: Mini Tuna Patties

Looks delish. I also make something like this with albacore tuna, as well as salmon. I love smoked paprika. I buy the spanish kind. I'll have to try the Aleppo pepper! Wondering, does the taco seasoning have any gluten , soy or sugar or maltodextrin in it?

Re: 4 Months Carb Nite® Solutions Progress

Congrats to your success! :)

Re: Carb Nite® Solution & Paleo: How They Are Different

I am 100000% in. Hmm..interesting! That berry compote sounds very yummy. Germany is a cold country so it's not unusual that you don't eat much cold desserts, mostly stews/soup :)

Re: Favorite Childhood Cold Dessert (minus the sugar!)

Looks fancy! :D My dad sometimes made eel (he'd caught himself) in jelly, with onions. It had to sit in the fridge overnight. I never really got used to it, especially the jelly. :P

My favorite childhood cold dessert was berry compote (traditional northern German dessert). It's also served as a main dish with milky rice. In fact, we didn't eat cold desserts a lot. On holidays, there sometimes was ice cream, and otherwise fruit salad, but more often we ate warm deserts, such as vanilla pudding. Actually, it often happened that we had a sweet main dish (pancakes or semolina pudding or milky rice or maccaroni with a sweet sauce from dried fruit) and then no dessert.

Re: Favorite Childhood Cold Dessert (minus the sugar!)

i used to just love eating fresh berries or this strawberry pretzel jello thing my mom would make for picnics and it was topped with cool whip--i like salty/sweet things

Re: Egg and Avocado Dip

This looks so good

Re: About

I concur.
